I purchased this iron mainly because of its tapered nose and because of the quantity of water it holds. I am a quilter and press many, many seams. The tapered front end is so much handier than my previous iron with its somewhat blunt nose. This tapered nose presses open even tiny seams easily! And this iron holds a great deal of water so that one is not having to stop frequently to refill the iron. Love that feature! There is a sticker on the iron stating that distilled water is required, unlike many newer irons that can use common tap water.
I weighed this iron against my former iron, which had no liquid in it. My new iron, about half full of water was lighter. This is a definite plus for someone who has had rotator cuff surgery!
I have owned this purple iron about a month. I still like the color; it is something different than the usual gray and blue. The iron has functioned perfectly, and there has been no sputtering nor any dripping. However, I'm not overly fond of the 8-minute safety shut off because the iron frequently shuts off between my sewing needs and my ironing requirements. Alas, I shall just have to speed up, I guess.
